Nakochi: The Traditional Ochiai Village Cottage

Situated within the historic Ochiai Village, which is renowned for its traditional lifestyle, terraced farm plots, and winding footpaths, Nakochi is a recently restored Meiji era farm house with a broad view across the settlement. In 2005 Ochiai was distinguished by the government as a special historic preservation district, and many homes have been refurbished to reflect this heritage.

Yoga at Nakochi takes place in the large main room of the house upon tatami mats looking out into the valley. Some antiques are arranged around the space, and glass doors across the front allow for a beautiful view, but they can be pulled open wide when the weather is pleasant.

Nakochi also serves as an event space for various activities including soba making, star gazing, and tea ceremony, and on weekends it is also a cafe that serves delicious set lunch meals using various local ingredients. Also known by its subtitle of "Life Share Cottage", more information about Nakochi can be found on its website at http://nakochi.site44.com/
